BUILD YOUR CAPACITY TO BELIEVE – DEVOTION WEEK 8

“Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them” (Mark 11:23).This is an encouragement for us to build our capacity to believe. How can we build it? It is not all up to God; certainly, it is not all up to us; it takes

Build Your Capacity To Believe

both God’s ability and our genuine willingness to build our capacity to believe. God’s role is: His Word available for us; His grace to cover us. Man’s role is: to obey what he hears. If man obeys what he hears, he has the capacity or ability to believe. What is possible for you may not be possible for me. What is possible for me is based on my capacity to believe. God cannot work through you except through your capacity to believe. Your capacity to believe can increase or decrease depending on the rate you feed your soul with God’s Word. In Romans 10:10, we learn that what is restricting us is not on the outside but on the inside. Our heart is the communication point or contact between belief and unbelief, God’s Spirit and evil spirit. Our belief needs to be reset. Resetting your belief can only be done according to Joshua 1:8, ‘Keep the Word in your mouth – WORDS. Meditate on the Word day and night – THOUGHTS. Do what the Word says – ACTIONS.’ If you want to move mountains with your belief, this is the process. Come on, move mountains today with your belief as you build your capacity by following the Kingdom Way (Joshua 1:8).

Prayer Point: Lord Jesus Christ, increase my capacity to believe! My capacity to believe that You are the Healer, Deliverer, Provider, Saviour, Redeemer, in Jesus’ name!

MAN’S JUDGEMENT – WEEK 7 DEVOTION

Man’s judgement is a judgement that is based only on what is seen, heard and on what the circumstances look like. This kind of judgement is limited and cannot understand God. When you base your judgement only on what is seen, heard and on what the circumstances look like, you have not looked deep enough to the heart. As a child of God, look deep enough to the heart by focusing on what God says about the situation at hand.

Instead of listening to what Jesus’ message was all about, the people from His hometown were calling Him a carpenter’s son. Jesus struggled His way out of a pit of questions. Those questions were; How did this man get such learning without having studied? ‘Are you not the son of Joseph?’ That is, ‘Are you not the same boy that we grew up together with?’

People of God! you can grow up with a boy who was a hooligan and you have been living upright; you may later see the boy become a man of honour and authority, by the grace of God. This is the mystery of grace: God takes unlikely people puts them into His palace for eternity. That is, Christ shows them that dominion was generally abused in this world. Can you see that broken things become useful in God’s hands?

You who complain of your miserable background, cheer up for there is hope for you. Jesus Christ, the son of the living God is our eternal Hope. In the midst of your misery, look unto Jesus, for your misery is the object of His mercy. By His grace and mercy you will cry no more, you will be oppressed no more, you will be disappointed no more, you will be sick no more and you will be poor no more. What amazing blessings these really are!…..Prophet TB Joshua.

PROFESSING AFFINITY TO CHRIST – WEEK 6 DEVOTION

A Christian is one whose life comes from Christ. Many today, accept the name of Jesus Christ but not the life of Jesus Christ. When I say, ‘The life of Jesus Christ’, I mean God’s kind of lifestyle which is a lifestyle based on positive faith: that is, positive thinking, positive talking and positive acting. However, we profess affinity to Christ according to the flesh, while we are unchanged in the heart and life. Many become Christians, born-again with self-effort. Self-effort is a wrong attitude toward sin and it leaves us with urge; urge to do the wrong things. It is pertinent to note that without the Holy Spirit destroying the root of sin in us, we are bound to be tormented by our desire to return to our bad habits. Psalms 66:18 says, “If I regard sin – iniquity, in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.” We are made in our heart to be like Jesus. True Christianity lies in the heart – in the purity of the heart. On the last day, we will be judged not by the colour of our skin but by the content of our character. James 1:22 reads, “But be doers of the Word and not hearers only, deceiving yourself.’’ Many people say, ‘I’m born again, I gave my life to Christ 25 years ago…’ This means you are a divine image bearer of God; you mirror Jesus. The challenge many Christians, believers, pastors and the rest are facing, is the problem of urge behind closed doors – urge to do many bad habits. Many Christians, Bible students, church people are studying the Word but have failed to act on or do the Word. The mind is renewed by studying the Word and acting upon it. One may study the Word for years; if he or she is not a doer, the mind cannot be renewed. Meditation in the Word is a visit to Him. When you meditate on God’s Word, you bring God’s power onto the scene.

EXPERIENCE GOD – WEEK 5 DEVETION

Jesus Christ is reachable; you are not far from God.
No state of being is as rewarding as living in tune with God! Everyone has a desire to experience God because He has set eternity in the hearts of men. Apostle Paul says in Philippians 3:7-11:
“But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.”
When you have a relationship with Jesus Christ you change and become a man/ woman who is directed by your heavenly Father and not by the influence from men or circumstances. If you want to experience God and be all God has called you to be, you have got to spend your time with Him and learn from Him at His feet.

SEEKING HEAVEN ON EARTH – WEEK 4 DEVOTION

Everyone is exposed to trouble because trouble does not require any invitation before it comes. But as a Christian, your trouble is not like others; it is for the glory of God. Trouble comes not because we have taken any wrong step but because we are in a complex and contradictory world. This world is not our home, we are just passing through. That you choose to serve the Lord in truth and faith does not mean that you will not encounter troubles or trials but the Lord promises to see

SEEKING HEAVEN ON EARTH

you through. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, God’s children are passing through this troubled world to a place prepared for them – a place without sorrow; this is not Heaven. I mean that we are here for a short season, there will be thorns in our flesh, there will be things poking us, there will be things disappointing us. If you are seeking to have Heaven here on earth, then you are thinking and working against what the Bible says in John 16:33, that in this world, you will have trouble. Take heart – as Christians, we have a building from God. We have a firm and well grounded expectation of future felicity.
